But why Jel, why?
Robbie and Brad is a a song I listen to most days, as it’s one of my sons favourites, and it’s a pretty good song with a nice message…Avril is one of the best singers of the 21st century, and has stayed in the pop-punk lane, never reinvented, never bested- Anything But Ordinary indeed!Poison are one of my favourite bands, and this is from their last studio album of new material. And the twist is that CC sings this one, and it’s a lovely look at the jaded life of rock stars! There’s also a Bret version of this song, it’s worth checking outTwilight Force, this is my kind of music, it’s epic, it’s fun, it’s inventive! Plus I love the bit where it goes into La Bamba/ the Lambada (or something like that), and then ends with a choir.

A very jel group this. Really like the Robbie & Brad song but wasn’t sure if it would need the support (turns out it does). Had to go with “Sunlight Knight” however- reminds of the time introduced us all to Dragonforce – and I’m now wondering, especially given the cover art, if Twilight is a related act in some way.

Jel, I love you but that Robbie Williams songs is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. Like a forwarded email from 1999 set to music.

The rest of the group more than makes up for it however with Twilight Force a particular highlight.

The line between hair metal and pop punk has never been thinner. If you had told me this was Blink-182 and not Poison I would have believed you.

I do recommend Hollyweird as the last great hair metal album, and a testament to a realisation that some people just don’t get on with each other

If you’re willing to count the NY Dolls as pop-punk, and you ought to be, I’d go with “I Want Action” as the supreme blazing billboard at the summit of the hair-metal pop-punk intersection. The song’s the cute and cuddly version of “Looking For A Kiss.” (Chuck Eddy compliments Poison thusly: “Poison start out pretending to be the Dolls, come out like the Bay City Rollers.”)

In defence of Brad and Robbie – they were sort of bound by the awesome plot of Cars 2, which ends with Lightning and Matar visiting London in a convoluted James Bond pastiche
