“Quero Em Dobro” is my nom, blissful and horny and funny, the guys in the video wiggling almost as much as the women. MC Loma is one of the great popularizers of Brega Funk – “brega” translates as cheap or cheesy or tacky, glorying in its inexpensive electronics from the countryside. Rural beats and urban content.

Tom, for some reason it’s telling me I haven’t voted (this and the previous few heats, though earlier days’ heats say I have voted), when I know I have. Might be giving me the opportunity to vote twice, but I won’t take it.

I cleared the cache and restarted my browser, and that didn’t make a difference.

Yes – this will happen sometimes, it’s nothing to do with your cache etc.

Basically I have a choice to set each poll to authenticate via IP or via user ID. IP authentication means you can vote without being logged in – it shows up as “guest” – so people who see the group on Twitter can come over and vote. Higher engagement. But the downside is that IP is often not static – so if you vote, and your IP shifts, you get a second chance even if you’re logged in.

User ID has none of that tricksiness. It’s better. But the voting level is even lower. So I’ve been compromising, and *starting* each match as IP authentication before switching to user ID about halfway through.

After it switches to user-ID you should just see the original vote, assuming you voted when logged in. But I can’t implement seeing results without voting unless I want to implement it for everyone (which I don’t). I think if the technology is forcing you into illegal second voting you should probably just have an illegal second vote tbh!

Group of the day (if ‘day’ means anything anymore in the new format). No weak links at all here. Voted Machinedrum, who I have followed quite closely in the past tho I didn’t know this track – on the thin grounds that it’s YouTube only and might need the support.

Great group, with three GBs. I like both the original “SeeSea” and this remix of it a lot. And I loooove me some brega funk (it’s even better with (simulated) horn/brass stabs, I find). But I went with my South African bias here. I only knew BLK JKS by name and although they’re far removed from the housier and/or soulfuller side things that I tend to listen to SA-wise I love their sound. Reminded me – in spirit more than in actual sound – of the blistering concert I saw last year by their compatriots The Brother Moves On, a discovery from an earlier PPP (the 2021 one, if I’m not mistaken).
