As before, the inclusion of a Chainsaw Man track in the group makes me want to read more Chainsaw Man, even when I don’t actually vote for the track.

On paper the two African tracks in this group gave me a knee jerk response – like of course I’m going to enjoy the SA house banger more than the Real World veteran, But this was the judgement of a dumbass. Listening to them I could hardly pick – Oumou Sangare’s band gets up an amazing head of steam. Finally did go for “Lahla” for the scrappy rap breakdown bit.

I honestly had no idea how to source or what to link to with the Yakuza 7 song – I do like the way the other guys in the video are cheering on his performance though!

The first two both made me think Spotify was glitching, Kenshi because it drops half a beat every few bars (I think) and Busiswa because of that EXTRA LOUD snare. I’m a sucker for dropped beats, so easy vote in the end.

The rhythm game sections in the Karaoke bars of the Yakuza series have long given me a lot of trouble – as I get older I am losing the dexterity to button mash effectively.
The games themselves though are rather good (Chapters 0-6 told a long story largely centred on the same small area of a fictionalised Tokyo – 7, which this one comes from, is a bit of a reboot and moves a substantial amount of the game to Yokohama – though it still massively overstuffed with mini-games and ports of Sega games like Outrun) so I was delighted to discover that the most recent game is set in Feudal Japan.
I have been enjoying it quite a bit. Somehow, there’s still a singing rhythm game shoe-horned in there.
