Modern Qualifier 16 – BREEZEBLOCKS CHANGE DAKOTA VICARIOUS

At some point around the turn of the 10s my Dad told me I needed to checkout my cousin’s new band and they were going to be massive. I did and they were good and I didn’t think much more of it. But they started growing and growing, playing in larger and larger venues and eventually ending up winning the Mercury prize for their debut album, An Awesome Wave.
What I had taken as my Father’s warm, avuncular support turned into a real passion for him over the last decade of his life. He organised fan groups, twitter accounts, concert tickets and ultimately became a big player in an indie band’s fan scene well into his 70s. I’m really pleased about the lease of life it gave him during those final few years when he was essentially housebound, I just wish I could ask him which track he would have had me pick. Breezeblocks is probably their most obvious choice so that is what I settled on.
