Curatorfest Qualifier 4! CURATED by Dan Popomatic

Our fourth Curated Group comes from @danpopomatic and I am delighted to announce that the theme is DISCO. There may be more to it I admit but that’s very strongly the vibe I’m getting here. We have soulful disco from Jimmy Ross, Ghanaian disco from Kiki Gyan, anthemic gay disco from Macho and a modern take from Purple Disco Machine. Get down (and vote).

RESULTS: Jimmy Ross and Kiki Gyan advance to ANCIENT Round 1 – we won’t be seeing them for a while.

Low-key more difficult than Q1, as these are also all hugely enjoyable but aside from Macho I haven’t known them for years.

The Kiki Gyan song is here because I don’t know which year it came out (the internet is vague), otherwise it would be in the next BPHM poll.
I’ll let people discover the 18-minute version of “I’m A Man” for themselves.

Still wish there was a way I could see which one I voted for after I leave the site and come back. I have a suspicion it was Purple Disco Machine, but this curated group is tight and it could’ve been any of the other three.

Yeah this is frustrating. It might be down to the way I’m authenticating votes (IP rather than login) but it might also just be a persistent bug in the plug in.

Noticing that the order you list the tracks (and the order on the playlist) doesn’t always match the order on the “ballot” beneath that – so there’s potential to misvote (though do appreciate that the click-then-submit setup makes misvotes less likely than they’d been on Twitter).

Yeah it offers a few options for how the tracks are listed in the poll, none of which seem to conform to “the order you typed them in”. It’s currently on “Default”, which I hoped would mean “change nothing” but seems to mean “shuffle”….

And so it should! I can’t remember exactly which one I voted for in the end but I do remember enjoying the full group massively on my first Spotify playthrough. Wonderful group, thank you Dan!
