First of today’s Curated Groups comes from Dan B – it’s a terrific collection of recent dance/electronic tracks, if there’s a wider theme I’ll let him elaborate!
- Techno remix of the Manchester outfit’s 2021 track.
- A 2022 track from the Italian DJ/Producer, on Factory 93 Records.
- A 2021 collaboration between the French twin sisters and the Coventry rapper.
- From the EDM duo’s 2022 LP Wet Tennis.
So here we have Alien-Deep-Gold-Bird, my ultra niche group of 20s bangers by unpolled artists* with a multi-lingual flavour.
Turn up the bass and hope you enjoy!
*Yes there’s at least one artist to have featured on a polled song before but it wasn’t on the spreadsheet so I let myself get away with it.
All these brought me pleasure but I am a basic sort and the combination of thumping beat and cool sample in “Larry Bird” provided the most joy. It reminded me happily of the kind of thing big beat acts used to do, except with even bigger (and better) beats.
I absolutely LOVE that Daniel Avery remix, so much so that it was the only thing I played on Spotify in 2021 for a while, and all my recommendations in early 2022 were also Daniel Avery remixes. It was like early 2000s Vitalic never went away!
Great group Dan! Just what I’m in the mood for at the moment.
As a Celtics fan I feel ashamed for not voting Larry Bird though.
Well, as a Celtics fan I don’t really have any choice here do I?
Top to bottom one of the best Curated Groups I’ve ever heard. Not a clue what I’m voting for except it’s one of the first 4
Agree, I had to listen twice, and it wasn’t even a chore, I was glad to do it.
I think it helped that they all had hints of other songs I really like, Rosso Profundo in particular have me a strong flavour of former Golden Beat winner Poni Hoax.
Very much (pleasantly) surprised by how the voting is going. One of these artists is an order of magnitude more popular on Spotify so half expected them to run away with it, but not going that way at all.
