No overarching theme here, just unpolled (as credited) 21st-century artists; songs I loved contemporaneously that still hold up for me.
Liars gets what I thought would be a sympathy vote. It’s one of my 5-year-old’s favorites, and would sound great at this summer’s Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party.
Earl’s hybrid debut/reboot single is here because the line “feeling as hard as Vince Carter’s knee cartilage is” hasn’t left my head in 10 years. 
“Hahaha jk jk” hasn’t worn thin for me, I still find it very charming. Dalí’s quote, “It is not necessary for the public to know whether I am joking or whether I am serious, just as it is not necessary for me to know it myself,” is one I’ve long taken to heart, much to the detriment of my career and social life. 
“Empty” feels like the most ambitious song here. Maybe that’s just because the video looks like it was filmed in Cinerama. I too love that trombone beat, and the teen-angst-to-the-max, sing-in-the-mirror chorus.
